Gestalt,
a relational therapy
What makes Gestalt therapy unique?
Engaging fully: body, heart and mind
Choosing Gestalt therapy means deciding not to suffer anymore, to live in a more fluid way, in alignment with your deepest aspirations. It means engaging your body, heart and mind in this experience. Beyond understanding, it is also about feeling and experimenting.
A psychotherapy centered on human relationships
Gestalt therapy is a humanistic and holistic approach to the human being. It sees each person as a unique whole, inseparable from his or her environment, with which they are in contact in ways that may be more or less fluid or painful. Gestalt therapy emphasizes self-awareness and contact with others. It is a relational therapy.
This way of being in contact with the world is explored within the therapeutic relationship.
Findings from scientific research confirms that Gestalt therapy sessions can promote personality development and help reduce stress and anxiety.
What neuroscience says: Neuroscience has recently confirmed that what is experienced in the therapy room, in contact with the therapist, is a transformative experience that changes brain perception and can integrate into the person’s lived experience. So yes, it works!
How therapy works: focusing on the present and the “how”
The therapist does not focus on the past per se, but rather on how this past is reactivated in the present moment of the session, often in the form of suffering, limiting beliefs, fears, etc. The goal is to help the person become aware of these mechanisms and, if they wish, to free themselves from them.
The therapist supports them to restore more fluidity in their life. The focus is more on how (how the person is affected by a situation to bring awareness to it) than on why (searching for causes). To do this, the therapist is fully engaged in the relationship, sometimes sharing their own feelings and offering creative interventions such as role-playing or experiments, in order to shed new light on a situation.
Definition of Gestalt: giving shape to your life
The term “Gestalt” in German means “to give shape, to take form.” Engaging in Gestalt therapy is about exploring your potential for growth in order to be in harmony with your aspirations, values, and capacities, while adapting to your environment. It’s about giving your life a shape that truly reflects who you are. This power is yours.
For whom and why consult a Gestalt therapist?
I work with adults who are going through a difficult time in their lives and wish to feel better. I believe that everything can be overcome, but we don’t always manage to do it alone. You can consult me for:
- Emotional difficulties & distress: Existential crisis, loss of meaning, depression, anxiety, stress, burn-out, overwhelming emotions, lack of self-confidence.
- Life trials & transitions: Experiencing grief or separation, painful transitions, illness.
- Changes & expatriation: Moving to a new place and/or country, difficult expatriation or repatriation, issues around finding your place.
- Relational & daily sphere: Relationship difficulties, professional challenges, eating disorders, feelings of loneliness, helplessness, or disconnection.
- Personal approach: Or simply a need to reconnect and find yourself again…
How sessions work and the therapeutic setting
I welcome you to my Gestalt therapy practice in Paris 8, located at 59 boulevard des Batignolles, in the 8th arrondissement. I also offer sessions online if needed. I practice in French and English, depending on what is most comfortable for you.
The first exchange
I offer you a free initial 5–10 minutes phone consultation. You explain your needs to me. I’ll listen to you and then explain my approach and the session rate. If that works for you, we’ll schedule a first appointment.
The first psychotherapy appointment
During our first session, we’ll take the time to get to know each other better. You’ll explain why you’ve come to see me, and together we’ll discuss your expectations and how I can support you through the challenges you’re facing. We’ll decide together on the frequency of our sessions based on your needs and our schedules.
How a session works and confidentiality
Each session is approximately 50 minutes, which includes payment processing and scheduling the subsequent appointment. Sessions are not covered by the national health insurance (Sécurité Sociale). However, certain complementary health insurance providers (mutuelles) may offer reimbursement for a limited number of sessions annually upon presentation of an invoice.
During sessions, we will be sitting face to face. These sessions are spaces of freedom within a confidential and secure setting. They are two-way conversations. I am here primarily to listen to you—your words, your silences, your gestures, everything interests me. I will not leave you alone with your doubts or blockages.
I may share my own feelings, hypotheses, and occasionally offer creative suggestions such as role-plays or experiments to help you connect more deeply with yourself and others. You are free to accept, reject, or negotiate these ideas. It’s this “dance for two,” at your own pace, that we will explore together, and it will be a vector for growth and novelty. At the end of the therapy, we will take time to bring closure to the process.
I offer you a safe, warm, and non-judgmental space in my practice, where we will gently explore together your emotions, behaviors, and interactions. It is in the safety of the therapeutic relationship that the shadows can be put into light, allowing for the development of new behaviors and the creation of a freer life.
